SMO COVID-19 Office Policy:

When it comes to the coronovirus (COVID-19), The safety of our staff and patients is our number one concern. we are taking the following steps to ensure that your visit to our office is as safe as possible:

  • In accordance with the rescission of the State of Michigan’s May 15, 2021 “Gatherings and Face Mask Order”,   MASKS ARE NOW OPTIONAL within our facility for both staff and patients (employees will wear a mask during your workup/exam upon request).

  • Staff will not be allowed to work if they present with a fever or other symptoms of COVID-19 (screened prior to each shift).

  • Staff is required to maintain strict hand hygiene throughout the day by either washing with soap and water or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

  • Plexi-glass barriers have been installed at reception and optical to create an additional layer of protection when patient interaction is required in those areas.

  • All patients (and those accompanying them) will be screened upon arrival for fever (100.4 degrees or higher) as well as other COVID-19 symptoms.  If you have a fever or other symptoms associated with COVID-19, your appointment will be cancelled and you will be asked to contact your PCP for further evaluation for exposure to COVID-19.  Once cleared, we will be able to put you back on our schedule.

  • Public areas and staff workspaces will receive extra cleanings during the day, and exam rooms will be thoroughly disinfected between each patient.

  • Our glasses frames on display are off-limits to patients for general browsing.  If you are interested in looking at any frame(s), please ask an Optician and they will help you find what you need as well as sanitizing them before and after pulling them off of the frame boards.

Remember to help stop the spread and stay home if you are sick – we can always get you re-scheduled after you are feeling better!
