What Kind of Problems can you Have with your Eyelids?
You probably don't think much about your eyelids, but they are essential to the well-being of your eyes. Like most other parts of your body, your eyelids can get infected, inflamed (blepharitis), or even develop cancer. Other eyelid problems include:
- Eyelids that turn in (ectropion)
- Eyelids that turn out (entropion)
- Eyelids that droop (ptosis and/or dermatochalasis)
- Abnormal blinking or twitching
- Styes and chalazia
- Demodex mite infestation
- Eyelashes that grow inward (trichiasis)

Most eyelid disorders are not vision-threatening or life-threatening; however, many cause irritating symptoms such as:
- Foreign-body sensation
- Inflammation of the eyelid(s)
- Vision loss
